The month of July is notoriously devoid of festivals, so vacation opportunities are slim. A quick glance at the July 2023 Festivals Calendar reveals that there are only three significant Indian holidays in July: Guru Purnima, the Islamic New Year, and the Muharram mourning period.
Guru Purnima, the Indian version of Teacher’s Day, is an essential observance that focuses on honoring the instructors and guides who have made our lives simpler. Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Purnima, is the birthday of Veda Vyasa, the author of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
Aside from this, July celebrations and observances are relatively limited. The month brings the Islamic New Year, but it is not commemorated as grandly as Eid. In addition, the Islamic New Year coincides with the 10-day mourning period of Muharram. The commemoration focuses on numerous Quranic narratives. During this time, Shi’a Muslims lament the tragedy that befell the family of usayn ibn Al. Nevertheless, there are a few lesser-known international holidays in July. Beginning in 2023, July 7 will be observed as International Peace and Love Day. Canada Day, the country’s independence day, and the Fourth of July, which commemorates the day the United States became independent and is a festive occasion, is also celebrated in July.
