List of Bank Holidays in October 2022: Due to significant festivals and vacations, October is a festive month in India. Festivals including Durga Puja, Deepawali, Laxmi Puja, and Karva Chauth take place in October.

The second Saturday and Sunday of every month are recognised as bank holidays in both private and public institutions. October 1: Closing of bank accounts on a half-yearly basis

October 2: Sunday and Gandhi Jayanti

October 3: Banks in Agartala, Imphal, Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Ranchi will be closed for Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami).

October 4: Ayudha pooja/Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva and Durga Puja (Maha Navami) on October 4. There will be no banking in Chennai, Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kolkata, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Shillong, Patna, Ranchi, and Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

October 5: This year’s Durga Puja/Dussehra (Vijaya Dashmi)/Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva takes place on October 5. Except for Imphal, all banks will be closed across the country.

October 6: The 6th of October is Durga Puja (Dasain). There will be no banking in Gangtok on Monday.

October 7: Banks in Gangtok will be closed.

October 8: Second Saturday on October 8 is Milad-i-Sherif/Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi (birthday of Muhammad). In Bhopal, Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram, banks will remain closed.

October 9: Sunday

October 13: Karva Chauth (Banks will not be open in Shimla).

October 14: The Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi (Jammu and Srinagar banks will remain closed)

October 16: Sunday

October 18: Kati Bihu (Guwahati banks will remain closed)

October 22: Fourth Saturday

October 23: Sunday

October 24: Deepavali, Diwali (Laxmi Pujan) and Naraka Chaturdashi (Banks closed unless you’re in Gangtok, Hyderabad or Imphal.

October 25: Laxmi puja on Diwali/Govardhan Puja (Banks are closed in Gangtok, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur).

October 26: Govardhan Pooja, Diwali (Bali Pratipada), Laxmi Puja, Bhai Bij, Vikram Samvant New Year Day, Bhai Duj,and Accession Day (Banks remain closed in Bengaluru, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Gangtok, Lucknow, Mumbai, Jammu, Kanpur, Nagpur, Shimla, Srinagar.)

October 27: Bhaidooj/Laxmi Puja/Ningol Chakkouba /Deepawali/Chitragupt Jayanti/(Banks in Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, Lucknow will be closed).

October 30: Sunday

October 31: There will be no banking activity in Ahmedabad, Patna and Ranchi on Surya Pashti Dala Chhath (Morning ardhya)/Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birthday/Chhath Puja.
