National High Five Day
National High Five Day: Up top! On April 20, be sure to give a “high five” to everyone you meet, as it is National High Five Day.
How did everything begin? It depends on who you ask. When Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke of the Dodgers gave each other a high five in celebration in 1977, we’ll use that baseball anecdote. L.A. was the first team in history to have four batters with at least 30 home runs in a single season after Baker’s home run.
Today, it is used globally to signify “Congratulations!” or “Great job!” We are still quite sentimental about the “low five,” which may have originated in the 1920s.
High Five transcends cultures, which is why National High Five Day is celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday of April. Celebrate National High Five Day with your family and friends by sending them images, greetings, and messages as well as giving them a high five. Make the day enjoyable for everyone around you by sharing High Five quotes and sayings.
The University of Virginia students Conor Lastowka (San Diego, CA), Sam Miotke (Corvallis, OR), and Wynn Walent (New York, NY) created National High Five Day in 2002.
The high five is a universal gesture, practised by individuals on all continents. Craig Lewis even left his job to travel to 36 countries and give high fives around the world. The High Five Challenge raises funds to provide arts and athletics programmes for children affected by chronic illness. Kid President once remarked, “Give individuals high fives for simply getting out of bed. Being a person can be difficult at times.” A high five is a universal gesture that can be used for any occasion.
National Stop Snoring Week 2023: Date, History, How to Observe
1. Raise your hand to the sky
Smile. Swing forward your arm. Smack! If you did it correctly, you should hear a resounding ‘thwack’ as your palm strikes theirs.
2. Teach a child how to give a high five.
There is nothing more enjoyable than teaching a young child a new skill. Find an infant, perhaps your own or a friend’s, and teach them how to give a high five on National High Five Day.
3. Teach a canine to give a high-five.
Okay, teaching a baby a trick is enjoyable, but teaching a canine is even more enjoyable. Find a canine and teach it to greet you with its paws!
