What changed: The business that created “Stranger Things” and “The Night Agent” gradually removed its most affordable option, which was a $9.99 “basic” package without advertisements, forcing some viewers to either pay more or endure commercials.

Prime Video

What changed: starting in 2024, Amazon stated that Prime Video will be divided into ad-supported and ad-free versions. An additional $3 will be paid by viewers in the US if they wish to watch popular shows like “The Lord of the Rings” and “Reacher” series without commercials. This premium fee has not yet been disclosed in Canada. The retailer’s primary Prime membership, which comes with shipping benefits, includes Prime Video.
