Ashadha Gupt’s Navratri in 2023: Importance
Gupt Navratri bears immense significance for Hindus. The majority of devotees are familiar with Chaitra Navratri and Sharadiya Navratri. The Navratri occurs during the month of Ashadha, and the month of Magha is referred to as Gup Navratri. During Gupt Navratri, devotees worship the Dus Mahavidhyas. The Dus Mahavidhyas are goddess Parvati’s manifestation. The ten Mahavidhyas are ten varieties of wisdom. There are two Mahavidhyas mentioned in Hindu scriptures. Gupt Navratri is regarded as the optimal time for Tantriks and Sadhaks to perform Sadha and acquire all Siddhis and preternatural powers.
History
Sudharshan was the son of Kosala’s monarch. However, his father was deposed and murdered as a result of a plot and mutiny. He was forced to retreat with his mother into the forest. A sage provided sanctuary for them. The prince once heard a sound while playing in the forest, and he imitated it several times for amusement. The word was ‘Kleem,’ and it was the Beeja Mantra of Goddess Durga. Durga was pleased by the boy’s chanting of the Mantra, and the prince eventually regained his dominion. Supposedly, this occurred during Ashadha Navratri.
There is an additional legend regarding the potency of Navratri. Once upon a time, a woman’s husband lead a deviant lifestyle and forced her to participate in his immoral activities. One day, she complained to Rishi Shringi that her husband’s evil actions prevented her from receiving Durga’s favours. Additionally, she was unable to observe Vrat or conduct Pooja at home. She desired to worship Durga ardently and requested Rishi’s advice.
The rishi then informed her of the Gupt Navratris, of which few individuals were aware. During the Gupt Navratri time, he advised her to venerate Durga. As a result, the woman performed severe penance during Gupt Navratri, and all of her problems disappeared. She attained serenity and prosperity. Her husband also made amends. It was all owing to the blessings of Durga.
