Bhadrakali Jayanti History
There is a well-known legend surrounding Bhadrakali Jayanti. Goddess Bhadrakali is regarded as the manifestation of Mata Parvati, the venerated consort of Lord Shiva in his Rudra guise. According to the Puranas and mythology, Bhadrakali is a manifestation of Mata Parvati. According to Vayu Purana and the Mahabharata, when Daksha Prajapati insulted Lord Shiva during the great Ashwamedha yagna, Mother Sati jumped into the fire pit to sacrifice herself. Afterward, he assumed the guise of Bhadrakali. Lord Shiva was unable to endure this anguish, so he assumed the form of Virabhadra.
According to another legend, a demon named Durika was granted immortality by Lord Brahma after conducting austerities to him. According to Bramhaji’s boon, it was impossible to slay him. After receiving the blessing, Durika began to harass others. When Lord Shiva learned of this, he created the goddess Bhadrakali in order to destroy the demon and bring peace and prosperity to the universe. Lord Shiva opened his third eye, and Goddess Bhadrakali materialises. Goddess Bhadrakali destroyed Darika.
