Co working Day is observed annually in August. It is a day intended to recognise accomplishments and promote the concept of co working globally. You may have misconstrued ‘coworker’ and ‘coworking’ as related concepts in the past, but they differ significantly. The background of Co Working Day

Brad Neuberg, founder of the Spiral Muse Coworking Group, is credited with creating the concept of coworking. On August 9, 2005, he posted a blog about inviting creatives and liberated spirits to join the community. It is argued that cooperative spaces for freelancers and entrepreneurs existed prior to Neuberg’s blog post. However, it is generally accepted that Neuberg’s definition and explicit use of the term ‘coworking’ made the difference.

The first instance of coworking space can be traced back to 1995, when hackers in Berlin, the capital of Germany, created a ‘hackerspace,’ a place for like-minded individuals to share ideas and information. Nonetheless, the concept was not widely recognised until 2005, when Neuberg blogged about it. Tony Bacigalupo, co-founder of the first dedicated coworking space in New York City, wrote on his blog in 2010: “On Monday, it will have been five years since Brad Neuberg first spoke about coworking. That should be the official Coworking Day, in my opinion.” In addition, the commemoration of Coworking Day began in that year and has been held annually on August 9 since.
