Gauri Vrat 2023: History

It is the most auspicious of the Vrats observed by women. According to legend, a Brahmin couple devotedly venerated Lord Shiva. They possessed everything except a child. It is believed that Lord Shiva, moved by their devotion, bestowed upon them a healthy son. This is the myth surrounding the Gauri Vrat.

Significance

Goddess Mangal Gauri is one of the manifestations of Shakti (divine feminine creative force). This puja is performed to facilitate an early marriage and the finding of a suitable life partner.
