Hariyali Teej 2023: This year, Hariyali Teej or Singhard Teej falls on August 19. This holiday is observed on the third day of the radiant phase of the lunar month of Shraavana. Haryali translates to “greenery,” which represents the earth becoming verdant due to monsoon rainfall after the summer heat.

On Hariyali Teej, women who fast must rise early, bathe before sunrise, and then adopt a fasting vow. They should adorn themselves with Solah Shringar by applying green cosmetics predominately. Lord Shiva is anointed with Gangajal and Panchamrit while facing east during the ritual. Belpatra, incense, lamps, flowers, cannabis, and dhatura should be presented as offerings. Lord Shiva should be presented with naivedya.
Goddess Parvati should also be honoured with cosmetics and sweets such as halwa and kheer. Recite the mantras of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati during worship, and listen to the tale of Hariyali Teej. Finally, perform aarti and present married women with items associated with Suhag. In addition to singing folk and spiritual melodies, women perform special dances on this day.
