Mohini Ekadashi 2023: Mohini Ekadashi is of great significance in Hinduism. On this auspicious day of Mohini Ekadashi, many Hindu devotees offer petitions to Lord Vishnu. This year, the fast will be observed on May 1, 2023. Mohini Ekadashi occurs on the Ekadashi Tithi (eleventh day) of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha.
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Dhanvantri appeared alongside the Amrit Kalash at the time of the ocean’s churning (Samudra Manthan), when the elixir was expelled. Due to this, Demons and Deities fought over who would consume the Amrit. To end the conflict, the Lord of the Deities went to Lord Vishnu for assistance. Lord Vishnu then appeared in the form of the nymph Mohini and took the Amrit Kalash from the Demons and returned it to the Deities to ensure their immortality. People commemorate this day as Mohini Ekadashi and offer prayers to Vishnu for this reason.
