National Cream Tea Day is observed on the last Friday of June, which this year falls on June 30. National Cream Tea Day was established by Rodda’s Clotted Cream and Tiptree. The afternoon cream tea is a 19th-century British custom that was practised daily. Today is National Cream Tea Day, which encourages people to join together, enjoy a cream tea, and donate to worthy causes.
The enjoyment of sipping tea dates back to the 1600s, when tea was first introduced to Britain during the reign of King Charles II. However, the Duchess of Bedford established the custom of eating pastries or sandwiches between lunch and supper many years later. When she felt hungry during the afternoon, she would order tea and refreshments to her room.
During the middle of the 19th century, tea’s prevalence increased, and drinking tea in the afternoon became a custom among the British populace. A cup of tea was served with sandwiches, cakes, scones, cream, and jam (the first indication of cream teas as we know them today). Now, cream tea is not only a part of daily custom, but also of social gatherings and lawn celebrations. It frequently accompanies a small snack served to family or visitors.
The Cream Tea Society, comprised of Tiptree and Rodda’s Clotted Cream, is a community for those who adore all things cream tea. Rodda’s and Tiptree have historically donated up to 50,000 portions of Cornish clotted cream and marmalade to charity event organisers each year. The Society supported 57 charitable events on National Cream Tea Day last year. They enjoy encouraging individuals to raise funds for their preferred charities.

Invite your family and friends to a cream tea party to commemorate the occasion. These can be as formal or casual as desired. Make it a straightforward affair by serving only jam, cream, and scones, or pile on the delicate snack sandwiches and tea cakes.
Visit the Cream Tea Society and raise funds for one of the thousands of charities in the United Kingdom. Do your part. And if you live in the United States and share a similar appreciation for deliciousness, please feel free to host your own cream tea and donate to a local charity.
Share on social media images of your cream tea event or your delectable jam and cream creations. Additionally, provide the donation information for the charities you select.
Clotted cream is preferred over whipped cream; it is produced by steaming raw, full-cream cow’s milk.
Real clotted cream is unavailable in the United States because pasteurisation and homogenization requirements alter the lipid structure of milk.
There are two methods to enjoy the scone: either spread the jam or the cream on the scone first, and then add the other.
According to cream tea etiquette, the proper method to separate your scone is to use your hands.
The tea should be added first, then the milk and sugar.
