During the Golden Age of Ancient Greece, between 500 B.C. and 350 B.C., mead was reportedly the most popular beverage throughout the nation.
Columella, a Hispano-Roman naturalist, recorded a recipe for mead in his agricultural work, “De Re Rustica.”
