Artichokes are a delicious appetizer. They are delicious regardless of how they are prepared and so enjoyable to consume. Consider frying, steaming, or even filling the hearts. In Italy,

The 16th of March is National Artichoke Hearts Day, a day to celebrate these nutritious and delectable plants. Artichokes are native to the Mediterranean and are one of the world’s oldest cuisines; Greeks and Romans consumed them in the eighth century! Today, we enjoy them boiled, baked, steamed, grilled, and sautéed, among other preparations. The artichoke is the designated state vegetable of California, where 99.9% of the artichokes sold in the United States are grown. To cut to the chase, we adore every aspect of this delicious vegetable.

The background of National Artichoke Day

Artichokes are a delicious appetizer. They are delicious regardless of how they are prepared and so enjoyable to consume. Consider frying, steaming, or even filling the hearts. In Italy, it is customary to prepare artichoke hearts in oil; in Spain, immature artichokes are combined with rice to make paella; in Rome, they are fried whole; and in the Middle East, they are stuffed with ground lamb and spices.Artichokes are the blossoms of the artichoke plant, which explains their exquisite beauty. Artichokes are a popular motif on textiles, and they look exquisite in a basin. In some flower stores, artichokes on the stem are sold as cut flowers. You can cultivate them in your garden, and they will produce vibrant purple blooms.Artichokes are one of the most antioxidant-rich vegetables and contain specific antioxidants linked to improving liver health and function and even combating cancer. In addition to being delicious, artichokes are extremely healthy for our bodies. They are abundant in antioxidants and essential nutrients such as vitamin C, folate, and magnesium. They are a delicacy that can be consumed at any time of day without feeling guilty.

NATIONAL ARTICHOKE DAY ACTIVITIES

Consume artichokes at every meal

The objective is to incorporate artichokes into every meal. Have an artichoke fritatta for breakfast, an artichoke salad for lunch, an artichoke stuffed for dinner, and spinach and artichoke dip as a refreshment!

Serve artichoke at a potluck.

Invite your pals over for artichokes! Have everyone bring a dish that incorporates the vegetables, and of course, have the staples available. Artichoke dip, sautéed artichokes, marinated artichokes, and steamed artichokes are some of our suggestions… alright, we propose everything!

Enjoy Cynar cocktail

Cynar is an Italian liqueur prepared from thirteen herbs and plants, but artichoke predominates! In fact, the liqueur’s name is derived from the Latin word for artichoke, Cynara scolymus. Cynar is an amaro that may be consumed as an aperitif, digestif, or in a cocktail. We adore it over ice with seltzer water or as an alternative to Campari in a Negroni variation. Arti-cheers!
