National Beverage Day 2023: Date, History, Facts, Activities

In one form or another, beverages have existed since the beginning of humankind. The forms and significance of beverages vary across cultures.

The sixth of May is National Beverage Day, and we couldn’t be more pleased. The day encourages us to unwind, sip our favourite beverages, and unwind. There are a variety of beverage forms. The good news is that there is a beer for every flavour, whether you favour a hold or a cold one. The only thing that matters is that you pick up or prepare some of your favourite foods, congregate with loved ones, and prepare to enjoy and relax.

The Background of National Beverage Day

In one form or another, beverages have existed since the beginning of humankind. The forms and significance of beverages vary across cultures. They can be regarded as an occasional indulgence or as the catalyst for a much-needed morning pick-me-up — shout out to all the coffee enthusiasts!

The origins of this day are somewhat obscure. There are references to National Beverage Day as early as 1921. The day was formerly known as Bottled Carbonated Beverage day. It was intended to advertise bottled carbonated beverages as “pure” and “wholesome!”

It is difficult to pinpoint exactly when Bottled Carbonated Beverage Day became National Beverage Day, as advertisements throughout the 1920s referred to it variously as National Carbonated Beverage Day and Beverage Day.

Nowadays, the meaning has changed due to a greater awareness of how and what beverages we consume, particularly when they are sugary or alcoholic, so it is always best to consume them in moderation.

Not only during the summer do beverages play an important role in our existence. From ice-cold champagne on New Year’s Eve to piping hot espresso on a December morning, beverages are something we savour throughout the year!

NATIONAL BEVERAGE DAY ACTIVITIES

Enjoy yourself

Plan a trip to the coffee shop, bar or store where your preferred beverage is served! Additionally, savour the flavour and appreciate every moment with the beverage of your choice. Put your phone away, don’t read the paper, and spend some time alone with your drink. It resembles the practise of doing nothing!

Take a course

Take a class in mixology or barista to hone your beverage-making abilities. Not only is it a great method to learn something new, but it can also be useful if you host a party or invite guests. That will undoubtedly be appreciated!

Thematize it

Host a celebration for your preferred beverage. Provide ingredients so that guests can create their own variations. Consider all the amazing variants and themes of a single beverage category, such as tea. Options are limitless!

5 BUBBLY FACTS ABOUT GINGER ALE

Golden Ginger Ale and Dry Style, which have a milder flavour, are available.

Irish surgeon Dr. Thomas Joseph Cantrell is typically credited with the invention of Ginger Ale.

Dry Style ginger ale was created and patented for the first time in Canada. This variety is currently the most prevalent.

Ginger Ale is sometimes used to relieve nausea or dyspepsia.

This is dependent on the type. Try Ginger Beer if you want a beverage with a stronger ginger flavour.
