National Caramel Apple Day 2023: In addition to being filled with Halloween-themed festivities such as confectionery, costumes, and ghouls, October 31 is National Caramel Apple Day. Halloween and caramel apples are complementary, much like tricks, treats, and spirits and goblins. Decades have passed since a resourceful Kraft confectioner devised the delightfully straightforward recipe while pondering what to do with an overabundance of Halloween caramels. We exclaim, “Bravo, sir!” “What an outstanding notion!” We then take a large, crispy, sweet bite.

National Caramel Apple Day 2023: History

During the 1950s, an employee of Kraft Foods was discovered to have an abundance of caramel chocolates and, presumably, a few apples remaining from the spooky holiday. To utilize the surplus caramels, Dan Walker, a confectioner, resolved the matter by melting them. Subsequently, he drizzled the caramel over the apples, thereby establishing an instant classic of autumn.

Due to the widespread association of autumn with apple harvesting, apple cider and caramel apples are analogous to apples falling from a tree. Consequently, as the apple harvest concludes in late October, the residual apples are put to use in the preparation of delectable caramel apples that are both sweet and gooey.

Although caramel apples became the official refreshment of corn mazes and hayrides almost immediately, it took caramel and apples a considerable amount of time to evolve into their current forms. Apples have a lengthy history with humanity, dating back to their inception in the Middle East and the fabled “Johnny Appleseed.” Since their invention around 1000 AD, caramel candies have maintained a prominent position in the drawers of elders worldwide and, more recently, on top of delectable apples.
