Noodles are the most convenient method to cram as many delicious carbohydrates into your mouth as possible, making them a national favorite. The term has become a catch-all for pasta, spaghetti, macaroni, and dorm-friendly ramen, meaning there is a dish for everyone, regardless of their sauce and garnish preferences.
On October 6, we will celebrate National Noodle Day by doing the best conceivable thing with noodles: eating them. Can you believe noodles have existed for more than 4,000 years? Noodles are popular all over the globe and come in a variety of shapes, including flat, round, twisted, sheets, and tubes. They can be made from rice, buckwheat, wheat, with or without eggs, and now zucchini as well.

The earliest historical reference to noodles is found in a Chinese dictionary from the third century A.D. The first noodles were formed from bread dough and tossed into simmering water in a wok. In contrast to other inventions, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly when and where noodles originated because they relied on the creativity of household cooks.
In Turkey and throughout Central Asia, a dumpling dish evolves into manti, which resembles minuscule tortellini. Some researchers hypothesize that Genghis Kahn’s empire, which stretched from East Asia to Central Europe, contributed to the proliferation of dumplings. Consequently, both the Italians and the Chinese claim to have invented the noodle.
Regardless of where noodles originated, one of their most beguiling characteristics is their variety. In China, chefs prepare la mian, the narrowest of noodles, whereas in Italy, they prepare lasagna, a broad, flat pasta layered with bolognese and béchamel sauce. And they are both noodles!
Noodles have existed in nearly every human culture, making them one of the most extensively consumed foods on the planet. National Noodle Day occurs at the beginning of October, which is National Pasta Month, providing a variety of options to satisfy an empty stomach.
