Gregory Sams and his sibling Craig were introduced to vegetarianism by their father’s New Year’s resolution to abstain from eating meat. Gregory stated in an interview that he became a vegetarian at age 10 and has never reverted. This was the first completely vegetarian burger to reach the market, although there had been plenty of vegetable burgers previously. This burger’s prelaunch was a tremendous success, and it quickly made its way to grocery stores such as Sainsbury’s and Safeway.
In addition to the explosion of veggie burgers, the field of meat imitators has also expanded, with options such as Impossible Burgers and Beyond Meat’s Beyond Burger Patty. Amy’s Kitchen, a vegetarian food company, created National Veggie Burger Day to encourage more people to sample the veggie burger and recognise its positive environmental impact.
