The celebration of Turkey Lovers’ Day occurs on the third Sunday of June, or June 18 this year. It is dedicated to all turkey enthusiasts in the United States. This day is quite an eye-opener for those who believe that turkey can only be consumed on Thanksgiving. Throughout the year, turkey can be used in a variety of thrilling and mouthwatering recipes. Additionally, its high protein content and minimal fat content make it a healthy option.

The background of Turkey Lovers’ Day

Turkey Lovers’ Day is relatively young compared to other national holidays. Turkey Lovers’ Day was a significant step in this direction, as it was founded by the National Turkey Federation, an organisation that has been promoting the use of turkey in American cuisine for the past eight decades.

The National Turkey Federation chose to commemorate this day for numerous reasons. First, more turkey is consumed outside of Thanksgiving than on the holiday itself. Secondly, people are becoming more receptive to turkey due to its nutritional value and robust flavour. The NTF also believes it has a responsibility to turkey producers and the industry as a whole, given that turkey is such an integral part of the American food industry.

Even though the observance of this day is not mandated by law, it has become quite popular as a result of people’s passion of turkey and desire to experiment with various summer recipes that include turkey.
