For “the preservation, education, and appreciation” of Zinfandel grapes, the Zinfandel Advocates and Producers were established in the United States. The Day was established as an expression of admiration and devotion to the Zinfandel grape and the following wineries that utilize it: Robert Biale, Rombauer, Artezin, and Pedroncelli. In San Francisco, wine enthusiasts celebrated Zinfandel taster days as well. The day spread rapidly throughout Europe, particularly to the United Kingdom. A day was devoted to commemorating one of the most cherished vines and beverages in the world.
