Illinois DCFS Urges Safe Sleep for Infants

Baby Sleep Day is commemorated annually on March 1 to highlight the significance of sleep for infants and their families. Baby Sleep Day, an initiative of the Pediatric Sleep Council — an international team of paediatric sleep experts — launches its global awareness campaign to spread the word about the incredible benefits of healthy sleep. Ultimately, they intend to prevent sleep issues before they occur. Sleep is essential for our physical and mental health. 30 countries observed Baby Sleep Day in 2021, demonstrating the significance of this topic.

The background of Baby Sleep Day

Every child deserves a healthy and happy life, and one of the most important pillars of this is sleep. Sleep works absolute miracles for everyone, but especially for a developing child. There are a variety of sleep disorders, including insomnia, restless legs syndrome, and sleep apnea. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, 25 to 50 percent of children and 40 percent of adolescents have sleep problems.

Baby Sleep Day was founded because our children unquestionably deserve a healthy and secure future. This day raises awareness of the benefits of healthy sleep and provides families with the answers, assistance, and knowledge they seek. This ultimately eliminates sleep disturbances. Each month, over 500,000 parents visit The Baby Sleep Site in search of solutions to their children’s sleep problems.

Baby Sleep Day precedes National Sleep Awareness Week (which begins with the beginning of daylight saving time) and World Sleep Day on the calendar of events (a day before the Spring Vernal Equinox). The first annual Baby Sleep Day was celebrated for the first time on March 1, 2017. This occurred after the three founders met at a deli, consumed pickles, and discussed the specifics. They reasoned, “If we were all overcome with happiness due to improved sleep, we might be close to achieving world peace.”
