It is a day to forget the worst aspects of reality and embrace the fantasy world of our imaginations; to normalise this and emphasise the significance of having a safe haven to retreat to when things become bleak and chaotic. A fool’s paradise is a fictitious universe in which eternal happiness can be found. Fool’s Paradise Day is a day to embrace such a paradise and attempt to find happiness amidst the tension and pressure of the real world, despite the ridicule such ideas may receive.

The first thing that comes to mind when considering the topic of purpose is contentment. We make every effort for contentment. Air, water, sustenance, and shelter are crucial necessities. Being joyful is equally essential. Happiness is an emotion and a state of mind characterised by contentment and fulfilment. We typically do not believe that genuine pleasure can ever be attained. Life appears to be an endless pursuit of the enigmatic entity known as ‘happiness.’ If reality is something that slows us down on our path to happiness, there is a trick we can use to experience transient elation.
As previously noted, happiness is a state of mind. Our minds can be trained to discover happiness in our thoughts. This is the origin of the expression ‘fool’s paradise’ In our pursuit of genuine happiness, we can find solace in our own thoughts as we define the parameters of our own contentment. In our minds, we can create a sanctuary using our imagination. A paradise where we have everything we’ve ever desired and required. Take a day off to create such a world in your consciousness and reflect on your experience in that fantasy land.
