National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) is part of a huge effort to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS in the African-American community, and it appears to be working. Despite increasing information efforts and a sustained push for testing and treatment choices, the CDC estimates that there are 471 500 African-Americans living with HIV. However, the number of newly infected individuals is decreasing or remaining stable.
