National Concussion Awareness Day is observed annually on the third Friday of September, which falls on September 15 this year. Concussions, regardless of their severity if left undiagnosed and untreated, are easily disregarded, necessitating an immediate and comprehensive evaluation by a qualified medical provider to rule out life-threatening head injuries or other system injuries. The symptoms of a concussion can last up to two weeks and include mood changes and peculiar emotional displays.
The purpose of National Concussion Awareness Day is to provide a forum for healthcare professionals, carers, and concussion victims to discuss this issue openly. The objective is also to increase the dissemination of information about the case in order to educate the general public.
