Sonya’s work led her to the realization that numerous elderly individuals residing in long-term care facilities are incapable of attending to their own oral hygiene and must rely on daily caregiver assistance. Her primary objective as a proficient Registered Dental Hygienist with more than two decades of experience in the field of dentistry was to enlighten individuals who were receptive to her viewpoint on this matter and contribute to the provision of high-quality dental services.
By capitalizing on her inexhaustible intellect and “dental influencer” status, she established Geriatric Toothfairy Day in 2020, an occasion designed to bring attention to the subject and issue a call to action to assist our elderly population in averting illnesses caused by inadequate oral hygiene.
