Every year on May 15, the United Nations (UN) celebrates the International Day of Families to recognise the significance of families. Traditional and nontraditional families are the foundation of society. Our formative years are spent with our families, who are likely the most essential people in our lives; therefore, we should celebrate them. Let’s devote today to finding methods to protect the family unit in society, beginning with our own families.

The more stable a child’s family environment, the more likely they are to be mentally and physically healthy.

In the 1980s, the UN began to recognise this as the Secretary General promoted public and decision-maker awareness. The United Nations went on to establish this day of observance and select a new family-focused theme each year to address global issues such as education, poverty, health, and work/family balance, to name a few.
