On the day of Krishnapingla Sankashti Chaturthi, a moon sighting is of particular importance. Early in the morning, devotees rise and prepare for a day of worshipping Lord Ganesha. Many devotees observe the Vrat of Krishnapingla Sankashti Chaturthi, during which they are permitted to consume fruits and milk products. Lord Ganesha’s statue is adorned with durva grass and fresh blossoms. Lord Ganesha’s Vedic mantras are chanted as a lamp is lighted.
