Live Nation Entertainment, the creator of National Concert Day, is the result of a merger between two corporations. In 2009, Live Nation, a concert promotion company, and Ticketmaster, a ticketing company, concluded a merger agreement. The new corporation was given the name Live Nation Entertainment after obtaining regulatory approval. Although the merger was initially approved in Norway and Turkey, several admirers, artists, and regulators opposed it, and the Competition Commission of the United Kingdom ruled against it. However, the United States Justice Department approved the merger on January 25, 2010, pending a few temporary prohibitions, and Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. was founded.
Live Nation Concerts is presently the largest music concert producer in the United States and internationally, producing over 20,000 concerts annually for approximately 3,000 artists worldwide. In addition to owning and operating numerous entertainment venues, it also operates as a music recording label. National Concert Day was instituted in 2015, with its inaugural celebration occurring in May. It was a day to celebrate the beginning of the summer concert season, as well as the musicians, record labels, and tour managers who make it possible for fans to experience live music. During the first year of the holiday, Live Nation hosted a concert at Irving Plaza in New York. In addition, they held a Kickoff to Summer Ticket Sale that year, offering over a million concert tickets for $20 on National Concert Day.
The pandemic put a halt to the public celebration of this occasion in 2020, as lockdown restrictions were imposed nationwide and lasted until 2021. This year, everyone anticipates a massive turnout from supporters.
