National Daughters Day 2023: Date, History, Facts, Events

The 25th of September is National Daughters Day, a day to honor and venerate our daughters, who bring so much love and joy into our lives. Even though we don’t need an excuse to celebrate our children, it’s good to have an excuse to show our daughters how much we care.

The background of National Daughters Day

The origin of this day’s significance may have originated in India. According to the Hindustan Times: “Unlike other countries, there has always been a stigma attached to being a girl child in India, and while this may no longer be the case in India’s major cities, it is still quite prevalent throughout the country.” When a mother delivers a girl, she is punished.” While many developing nations view daughters as a burden, other countries celebrate them.

This day may also be viewed in the context of the #metoo movement, particularly in the United States, where women have confronted formidable obstacles throughout history. Historically, women have been viewed as inferior to males. In eighteenth-century Anglo-American society, the law did not recognize the independence of spouses in economic, political, or civic matters.

Male privilege dominated at the time. Before 1920, women did not have the ability to vote. Prior to the 1960s, wives stayed at home while their husbands labored. In many respects, the United States is still sweeping away vestiges of gender discrimination.
