National Get Funky Day 2023: Date, History, Facts, Celebrations

National Get Funky Day was created by the St. Augustine, Florida fitness center Funkytown Fitness. After Hurricane Matthew slammed into Florida, a group from Funkytown Fitness created National Get Funky Day on October 5 to help people break free of their comfort zones.

Since October 5 is always Get Funky Day, you must comply! As “One Nation Under a Groove,” we have the opportunity to collectively honor the strength and grandeur of The Funk. We’re not talking about funk in the negative sense, but rather funk as in get-happy-and-celebrate-life!

The background of National Get Funky Day

National Get Funky Day was created by the St. Augustine, Florida fitness center Funkytown Fitness. After Hurricane Matthew slammed into Florida, a group from Funkytown Fitness created National Get Funky Day on October 5 to “help people break free of their comfort zones.” Today, be as eccentric as you’d like for as long as you’d like!

Almost everyone has recently experienced strange ups and downs in life. Why not exercise, dance or roller skate your concerns away to the flow of the funk? Funk is harmless (except if you neglect to use deodorant, but that’s an entirely different kind of funk). After a lively workout, you simply feel fantastic! Nobody actually knows where funk originates, but the majority of people believe it resides in the psyche.

The national Get Funky Day permits the funk to permeate the body, explode through the pores, and seep out onto the dance floor. Then, funk permits you to let loose! Funk alleviates our stress and reminds us that we are alive. Funk is the purest expression of liberation. With funk, there is no pretense, as you are either eccentric or you are not. If you’re not experiencing the funk, don’t pretend to be. People can always tell when you’re feigning a bad mood! No one comprehended the mystique of the funk better than James Brown, but his song “Make It Funky” simplifies the concept so that anyone can comprehend it.

White string. The Beastie Boys’ “Funky Bass” demonstrates conclusively that funk is a feeling that is not restricted by race, creed, or color, as it was released in New York City. George C. Wolfe and Savion Glover collaborated on “Bring in da’ Noise — Bring in da’ Funk,” a musical voyage through African-American history told through tap dance. Funk pioneer George Clinton publishes “Give Up the Funk,” once again demonstrating why he is the Mothership Master.

National Get Funky Day celebrations

You must dance!

To be genuinely groovy, one must dance. Deep funk entails donning platforms from the 1970s, a glittery costume, and hitting the dance floor to Parliament, Bootsy Collins, or Con Funk Shun. Most importantly, funk cannot exist without an abundance of bass rhythms.

Dye your hair multiple colors.

To convey the true spirit of the funk, you must do something wild with your hair. It’s required. Purple sparkle Afro? Yes, thank you! If you are a natural blonde, you should proudly sport aquamarine hair.

Get outside your group.

The national Get Funky Day challenges us to do something radically different with individuals who may or may not be a part of our usual social circles. The coolest thing you can do is reach out to people who are absolutely different from you and learn their story. Share a supper or a cup of tea together. You will discover that funk has the ability to unite people.
