National Kitten Day 2023: Date, History, Facts, Activities

Cats are a mystery, and we humans are completely captivated by them. According to scientists, cats have existed alongside humans for 12,000 years.

Kittens! Who doesn’t adore endearing, tiny kittens? …their enormous heads, enormous eyes, tiny pink paws and noses, and their endearing mews…. We cannot resist their adorable and furry allure. Surprisingly, Americans seem to prefer cats and kittens over dogs. According to the American Humane Society, 95.6 million households owned cats, while only 83.3 million owned dogs. There’s nothing wrong with canines, but kittens are irresistible! Join us in celebrating National Kitten Day on July 10!

The background of National Kitten Day

Cats are a mystery, and we humans are completely captivated by them. According to scientists, cats have existed alongside humans for 12,000 years. Even though the carcasses of wild cats and domestic cats discovered on archaeological sites are remarkably similar, we are still uncertain as to when cats became domesticated. Nonetheless, the majority of evidence suggests that cats were domesticated more than 8,000 years ago.

As if cats were not already irresistibly adorable, puppies make them even more so. Once they begin to purr, our hearts simply melt for the adorable, cuddly infants we desire to hold and embrace. On National Kitten Day, we indulge and nurture our furry little ones. National Kitten Day was created by animal advocate and pet expert Colleen Paige as an opportunity for abandoned kittens to be adopted into compassionate homes.

Despite the fact that many of our kittens will receive special care today, innumerable kittens remain unadopted. National Kitten Day serves as an awareness campaign to save kittens abandoned in shelters, on roadsides, or in the wild and provide them with the love they appropriately deserve.

NATIONAL KITTEN DAY ACTIVITIES

Adopt a kitten! (or foster, if unable to adopt)

If you are unable to adopt a kitten and devote to being a kitty parent, you can foster kittens. Feral kittens must be socialised with humans prior to adoption, and staying with a cuddly human is much more enjoyable than remaining in a shelter until they find their “forever home.” Therefore, if you are unable to adopt a cat, assist in the adoption process, and maybe a kitten will end up remaining with you 😉

Volunteer to assist ASPCA puppies.

The ASPCA is always in need of assistance socialising feral cats! Contact with humans is beneficial for the kittens and makes them adoptable, as they will no longer be wary of humans. In addition to being beneficial for the kitten, playing with kittens is also enjoyable and good for you, and you’ll feel wonderful volunteering!

Plan to accommodate an Uber kitten delivery if the service is offered in your area.

Once a year, Uber delivers adoptable kittens to your doorstep. Ensure that your employer or significant other is okay with this. Not only will you have a great time, but you may even make a new friend. In addition, the $30 “snuggle fee” is actually donated to local shelters; doing good while feeling good is the optimal way to proceed.

5 FACTS ABOUT KITTENS EVERY CAT LOVER SHOULD KNOW

They cannot use the toilet independently.
