We do not yet know who created National Toilet Paper Day, but whoever it was deserves kudos for devoting a day to honouring this humble yet essential product that is on the purchasing list of many consumers.
National Toilet Paper Day is observed on August 26 each year. The United States uses this essential item the most, followed by other nations around the world. When we enter a public restroom and realise there is no toilet paper, we realise the significance of this often-overlooked item. Previously, toilet paper was available in multiple colours. Now, an increasing number of nations use both toilet paper and a bidet.

Prior to the invention of toilet paper, from at least 79 A.D. until the collapse of the Roman empire, Romans cleaned themselves after defecating with a tersorium (a type of sponge). It consisted of a sea sponge on a stick, which they would rinse and pass on to the next individual.
Not until 1857 did toilet paper become available for purchase in the United States of America. The initial toilet paper consisted of scattered sheets of paper. Then, in 1930, the Germans devised the perforated rolls that we use today, which are comprised of 1,000 small sheets separated by perforations. In the 1960s, toilet paper was available in various hues, particularly pink and green to complement bathroom decor. Beginning in the early 2000s, coloured toilet paper rolls began to disappear from the market, although they are still available in some regions of the world. However, Americans adore their toilet paper and use it more than any other nation. However, this can also be attributed to the fact that in some countries, bidets are preferred over toilet paper.
Even toilet paper has made an appearance in a number of television shows and films. It is frequently used for Halloween decorations and pranks involving the covering of houses or vehicles.
This straightforward innovation has a solid footing in people’s lives and is likely to endure for decades.
