World Dream Day 2023: Date, History, Facts, Activities

World Dream Day is the first holiday focused on empowerment that encourages families, individuals, and businesses to dream large and work hard to make their dreams come true.

World Dream Day occurs annually on September 25. We all have visions, and I’m not just referring to what happens when we fall asleep at night. We are discussing the dreams we have when we are aware.

Many modern inventions began as basic concepts, but the skyscrapers and airplanes were made possible by the determination of those with grand visions to hold on to their dreams and make them a reality. Our aspirations are more than mere imaginations; with diligence and perseverance, they are the spark that ignites the fire that makes inventions a reality.

The background of World Dream Day

World Dream Day is the first holiday focused on empowerment that encourages families, individuals, and businesses to dream large and work hard to make their dreams come true.

Ozioma Egwuonwu, a renowned educator and transformational strategist, launched this initiative in 2012 at Columbia University. She consults on complex strategic issues and transformational initiatives for a wide variety of clients, including Target and Walmart. Egwuonwu has appeared on motivational programs such as “TEDx” and has addressed world-renowned organizations such as the United Nations. Her transformative training sparked optimism, ignited visionaries, and prompted innovation.

Ten years ago, World Dream Day was created so that dreamers and visionaries from all over the world could join together and share their hopes for the future. It’s a day for thought leaders to share their perspectives on how to advance global progress. When asked why she created this day, Egwuonwu stated that she wanted to “heal and inspire humanity.”

Keeping ideals alive is the reason we do what we do now. Without visionaries like Martin Luther King Jr. and Bayard Rustin, we would not have made changes and advancements in the way the world functions. Nothing would have been possible, from civil rights to video games, without visions and the people who helped bring them to life.

Today is a day in which we can reignite the fervent dreams we have ingrained within us and generate methods to make them a reality.
