ABC 13’s Chauncy Glover Bids Adieu After Eight Memorable Years: Farewell Houston

Glover's resignation comes nearly six months after he returned to flying in late 2022 following a medical leave

ABC 13’s Chauncy Glover Bids Adieu After Eight Memorable Years: On Tuesday (August 1) at 6:30 p.m., ABC 13 Houston anchor Chauncy Glover stunned viewers by announcing his abrupt departure from the station after eight years. The weekly evening host stated during his final broadcast that he is leaving to “take another great opportunity” but did not elucidate.

Glover stated, “I’m going to take a much-needed rest and vacation, and I’ll share details on my next chapter on social media in the coming weeks.” In addition, he thanked the citizens of Houston for their support and for entrusting him with their accounts.

The three-time Emmy Award winner also referred to his co-anchor Mayra Moreno as a “blessing,” adding, “You have been my support and sometimes my therapist. Together, we’ve laughed, prayed, and cried, and you’ve been the greatest work wife anyone could have asked for.” A sobbing Moreno said, “I know we will miss you, and so will all of Houston.”

Glover’s resignation comes nearly six months after he returned to flying in late 2022 following a medical leave. Glover, a native of Athens, Alabama, earned a degree in public relations after studying broadcast journalism, music, and theatre at Troy University.

After working as a correspondent and fill-in anchor for Detroit’s WDIV Local 4 News, he joined ABC 13 in 2015 as a weekend morning anchor. Glover formerly worked for CBS 47 and FOX 30 in Jacksonville, Florida, in addition to WTVM News Leader 9 in Columbus, Georgia.

While residing in Detroit in 2014, Glover founded the mentoring organisation Chauncy Glover Project. Glover stated that the nonprofit’s work will continue in Houston this autumn despite his absence. Glover stated on Tuesday, “We have mentored more than 2,000 boys of colour and sent more than 250 men to college.” “CGP has put countless boys on the right path, and we have altered the course of many lives.”
