Adam Silver, a commissioner for the National Basketball Association (NBA), was born on April 25, 1962 in Rye, New York. The current NBA commissioner grew up in a suburb of New York City. In 1980, after graduating from Rye High School, he resumed his education at Duke, where he studied political science. After completing college in 1984, he served as Les AuCoin’s legislative assistant for a year.

The accomplished athletics executive later attended the University of Chicago’s law school. In 1988, the New Yorker earned his law degree from the same institution. After completing law school, Adam clerked for Judge Kimba Wood. After that, he became an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
