After Acquittal, Florida Man Charged With Killing Pregnant Girlfriend

Sims, who was only 22 years old, was shot and died in front of her vehicle, according to WFLA.

On Wednesday, authorities announced that a Florida man shot and killed his pregnant girlfriend just days after being exonerated of two counts of murder. Eight days after fatally shooting Alana Sims, Tampa police investigators charged Billy Adams with first-degree murder and causing the death of an unborn child. Sims, who was only 22 years old, was shot and died in front of her vehicle, according to WFLA.

The incident occurred while her son was in the vehicle, but he was unharmed. According to the rumour, Adams and Sims were in a relationship. Adams, 25, who investigators believe to be the father of the unborn child, was found not guilty of the killings of two men on January 27, just days before to the alleged murder of Sims.

According to Tampa Police Major Michael Stout, the victim believed she was going to a celebration for Adams to celebrate his acquittal prior to the shooting, as reported by a local news station. Adams’ apparent motivation, according to Stout, was that he was not ready to become a father.

According to Tampa Interim Police Chief Lee Bercaw, Adams’s alleged crime is “unthinkable.” He hoped that the arrest will provide solace to the victim’s family, who is suffering the loss of two loved ones. We’re coordinating with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure that the suspect is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

State’s counsel Susan Lopez pointed to the earlier trial when she stated that the suspect’s actions were “unimaginable.” While honouring the jury’s verdict in the previous case, Lopez stated in a statement, “We disagreed with it, which is why we charged him.” “We will continue to work with (Tampa police) to hold him accountable for his most recent crimes,” he said.

According to Stout, the police major, Adams admitted to pulling the trigger in the fatal shooting but did not display much remorse. Stout reportedly stated, “I did not find him to be remorseful when observing my detectives conduct the interrogation.”
