After three years, Dhanbad District Badminton Championship to begin from July 28

The DDBA general secretary said that more than 50 schools with a focus on government institutions have been invited to the championship.

Record 200 players will participate in the Dhanbad District Badminton Championship-2022 which is being organized after three years at the Indoor Stadium from July 28 (Thursday).

Dhanbad District Badminton Association (DDBA) General Secretary Samrat Chaudhary giving this information said that four events including under-11, under-13, under-15, under-17 and under-19 will be organized in the championship.

Samrat Choudhary said since the district championship is being organized after three years (due to the Corona pandemic it was not organized in 2020-2021), record participation of junior players of private and government schools has been registered.

“On basis of performance in the championship players would be selected to represent district boys and girls teams for state championship scheduled to be held at Jamshedpur,” said Samrat Choudhary.

The DDBA general secretary said that more than 50 schools with a focus on government institutions have been invited to the championship.

Satish Kumar, vice-president of DDBA, informed that after the championship, a 15-day special training camp will be held for the selected boys and girls of the district before going to Jamshedpur for the state championship so that they could display their potential.

“DDBA is also preparing its junior players while keeping national ranking in mind as it would be given on the basis of performance in 2022,” said Satish Kumar.

For the first time, the district association has made entry free for players of rural areas.

Another vice-president of the association Rakesh Tiwari while answering a question said that the association has decided this time to write off the entry fee to encourage players in rural areas who can not afford it. This is being done so that no one misses the opportunity of playing. R Khan and Dipankar Banerjee of the association informed about the preparation of the championship.

Annapurna Sports and Development Trust has sponsored the prizes for the winners. Coach of the association Sandip Dey said that since the All India under-13 ranking championship is going to be held in Jamshedpur from September 18 to 24, the players of the under-11 group will be prepared for the same.
