After becoming well known with the band Enchantment, Amp Fiddler worked with Parliament and Funkadelic guru George Clinton for a decade. In addition to expanding the vocabulary of post-disco R&B, Amp Fiddler also established a unique style of music.
His ability to move between the stage and the studio, as well as his open-minded nature made him an ideal mentor for a generation of Detroit producers. He introduced J Dilla to the Tribe Called Quest creative vortex after discovering the young hip-hop producer and giving him his first Akai MPC sampler.
It is not only in hip-hop where Amp Fiddler’s influence can be found – he mentored the prodigal Moodymann, allowing his creative voice to linger in the deepest of deep house.
