The students from Kerala and Manipur wanted to go to their home towns as no classes or examinations are scheduled during May-June 2020.
The first batch consisting of 20 students belonging to Manipur and the second batch of 30 students from Kerala departed from Proctor?s office by buses for their respective railway stations, said Mr Abdul Hamid IPS, Registrar, AMU.
Before the departure proper health screening of the students was done by a team of doctors; and food, water and security was provided. The Proctor and his team were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Prof Mujahid Beg (Dean Students? Welfare) distributed 50 bottles of sanitizers and 50 face masks among students from Manipur and another 30 bottles of sanitizers and 30 face masks among students from Kerala.
Prof Beg informed that a special train for Guwahati (Assam) will operate from Aligarh tomorrow late in the evening. The train will have stoppage at Patna and Ranchi railway stations also.
Another batch of AMU students of West Bengal will leave from Aligarh to Mathura Railway station by bus tomorrow morning. “These students will board their train at Mathura railway station”, said Prof Beg.
