Applications Open for Mail-In Voting: People who live in the City of Chicago can now apply to vote by mail in the Presidential Primary Election on March 19, 2024. Voters can use this online form to ask for a vote for the future election: The primary election is March 19, 2024, and you can vote by mail through the Chicago Board of Elections (chicagoelections.gov).
Applications Open for Mail-In Voting in March 19, 2024 Presidential Primary Election
In the next election, voters will have to pick one of the following Party ticket types: Democratic, Green, Libertarian, Republican, or Non-Partisan (only for referenda). The Illinois Election Code says that voters can only pick one ticket and cannot choose more than one Party ballot.
People who want to vote by mail can also get their ballot in Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Polish, Korean, or Tagalog.
People can now also apply online to be added to the permanent Vote By Mail list before the March 19, 2024, Presidential Primary Election: Permanent Roll of Voters for Vote by Mail | Chicago Board of Elections (chicagoelections.gov)
People who are on the Permanent Roster can choose to get votes for all future elections (which need a Party designation) or just the general, municipal, or special elections that don’t need a Party designation. You can also use the online form to change your shipping address, vote choices, or to opt out of the Permanent Roster scheme.

People who have already signed up for the Permanent Vote By Mail Roster for “All Elections” will get a Vote By Mail vote for the Presidential Primary Election on March 19, 2024. Using the online Voter Lookup Tool at https://chicagoelections.gov/voting/your-voter-information, voters can look up and check their information on the Permanent Roster.
Around the beginning of February 2024, the Chicago Board of Elections will begin sending out votes.
Those who want to vote by mail in the March 19, 2024 primary election must do so by March 14, 2024, at 5 p.m.
People who get a Vote By Mail paper can send it back through regular US mail, but it needs to be postmarked by March 19, 2024, which is Election Day. The Ballot Return Envelope can also be dropped off in a safe box at any Early Voting site before Election Day or at a Vote Center on Election Day.

Once they’ve been accepted, their ticket will be mailed, the Election Board will receive their ticket Return Envelope, and their vote will have been handled and counted.
