They wrote, “Bill Reynolds, who spent nearly four decades writing a popular column for the Providence Journal and a dozen books, passed away on Thursday.”

According to the obituary, Reynolds co-wrote a book with Basketball Hall of Fame member and basketball coach Rick Pitino. He was widely admired throughout New England for many years. As soon as the news of Reynolds’ death was announced on Thursday afternoon, this became evident.

Longtime Providence Friars author Kevin McNamara wrote, “I regret to inform you that my dear friend Bill Reynolds died this morning. The themes of this memory from a few years ago still resonate true. “#Rest in Peace, Shooter”
