David Haggerty, president of the International Tennis Federation, stated, “All major team competitions, including the Davis Cup, are named after men, so we believe it’s only fitting that the women’s tennis world cup be named after Billie Jean King, who revolutionised women’s sports.” The new name will be implemented in 2020.
