Bob Barker: The cause of mortality of Bob Barker has been determined. The death certificate obtained by PEOPLE indicates that the host of The Price Is Right, who died late last month at the age of 99 in his Hollywood Hills home, died as a consequence of Alzheimer’s Disease.
The document stated that Barker had been afflicted with the disease for “years,” although the exact date of his diagnosis was not disclosed. According to the death certificate, hypertension (high blood pressure), hypothyroidism, and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol) were “other significant conditions” that contributed to Barker’s passing.

In recent years, Barker had contended with numerous health issues. Barker’s Hollywood Hills residence was visited by paramedics in January 2019 after he fell, but he was not hospitalised.
Barker’s manager verified in October 2018 that an ambulance and fire department responded to Barker’s Hollywood Hills residence for a “non-emergency back problem.”
Roger Neal, Barker’s publicist, verified the 15-time Daytime Emmy winner’s death on August 26. “It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker, has left us,” Neal said in a statement.
Nancy Burnet, the fiancée of the TV host, also commented on Barker at the time. Burnet stated, “I am so proud of the groundbreaking work Barker and I did together to expose animal cruelty in the entertainment industry and to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and abroad.” “We were close companions for the past four decades. He will be greatly missed.”
CBS honoured Barker with a primetime tribute on Thursday, where he hosted The Price Is Right for 35 years.
Drew Carey, the current host of The Price Is Right, stated at the beginning of the special, “Most people remember Bob from his 35 years as the show’s host.” “Therefore, it’s easy to overlook that he was a fixture on American television for 18 years with Truth or Consequences, a radio host before that, and a naval aviator during World War II. Bob will also be remembered for his tireless advocacy on behalf of all animals, from whales and elephants to cats and canines, and for reminding everyone at the end of the show to get spayed or neutered.
Carey, 65, referred to Barker as a “legend” prior to introducing a video package that glanced back at Barker’s career.
In 1972, Barker began moderating The Price Is Right. The game show went on to become the longest-running game show in U.S. history, making Barker the game show presenter with the longest tenure.
The first thing that comes to mind when I’m asked what I enjoyed most about my years with Price is… the money, of course! In 2021, Barker told PEOPLE. “Despite the jokes, there was much to admire. 35 years ago, I had the honour of working with a dedicated and talented cast and crew.
