As a result, a large number of individuals began spreading the false rumour that an Ebola outbreak had occurred at the Nevada music festival.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), hoaxes purporting to be from the CDC warned of an Ebola outbreak at Burning Man.

Rapidly spreading on social media was false information that a quarantine zone had been established on the event grounds. There is no evidence of an Ebola outbreak at Burning Man.
