CM Shivakumar Cause Of Death: Chief engineer of the BBMP, C M Shivakumar (45), died of “sepsis with refractory septic shock” and “multiple organ dysfunction syndrome” at 6:59 p.m. on Wednesday at a private hospital in Bengaluru. He was a victim of a fire that broke out on August 11 at the Quality Assurance Laboratory of the civic body.

His wife Uma Maheshwari and daughters Vibha Nidhi (12) and Nirvi Neha (10) survive Shivakumar. He had sustained 25% burn injuries in addition to inhalation injuries.

The hospital issued the following statement: “Mr. C M SHIVAKUMAR, age 45, presented to our hospital with an alleged history of accidental thermal burns and sustained burns injury to bilateral upper limbs, chest, face, and neck (diagnosed as 25% burns with inhalational injury, ARDS with Type II Respiratory Failure with high Fio2 requirement, and Sepsis).” Due to severe hypoxia, hypercarbia, anemia, thrombocytopenia, sepsis with septic shock, acute kidney injury, and Grade 3-4 burns, the patient was referred to our hospital after initial treatment at an outside hospital.

Shivakumar, a native of Nanjangud, was appointed assistant executive engineer for the BBMP in 2005. He later became the principal engineer of the Quality Control and Quality Assurance Division of the BBMP.

After a postmortem examination at Victoria Hospital, the body of Sivakumar will be transported to his residence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. On Thursday, the mortal remains will be transported to Nanjangud for the concluding ceremonies.

CM Shivakumar Cause Of Death: BBMP commissioner Tushar Giri Nath expressed his sincerest condolences to Shivakumar’s family upon learning of his passing. This loss is irreparable. In addition to the financial bundle, the civic organization will discuss with the state government a special package for his family.

Taking to social media, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated, “Saddened to hear the news of the demise of CM Shivakumar, Chief Engineer of Quality Control and Quality Assurance Department, who was severely injured in a fire at the Quality Control Laboratory of BBMP. I pray that the deceased’s spirit rests in peace and that his family finds the fortitude to bear their loss.”

The principal engineer, B S Prahallad, has yet to submit a detailed report on the cause of the fire incident. An initial investigation indicated that the standard operating procedures were not adhered to when testing bitumen extract.

In the meantime, the Bengaluru police have charged two engineers, Ananda and Swamy, and a BBMP official, Suresh Kumar, with negligence in relation to the fire accident.
