David Copperfield’s Wife?

In 1993, at a Berlin celebrity banquet, David Copperfield met German supermodel Claudia Schiffer when he invited her on stage to participate in a mind-reading performance and his floating illusion. They tied the knot in January 1994.

Schiffer served as a special guest assistant to Copperfield throughout their tenure, performing illusions such as being sawn in half. In the 1994 documentary “David Copperfield: 15 Years of Magic,” Schiffer portrayed a reporter interviewing Copperfield, and the pair recreated their “Flying” illusion act.

In September 1999, after nearly six years of marriage, they filed for divorce, citing their demanding work schedules. Copperfield is in a relationship with the 28-year-old French fashion model Chloé Gosselin.

Sky, born on February 11, 2010, is their daughter. This information was kept secret until August 2011, when it was revealed by The New York Post. Copperfield has two more children: a son named Dylan Jacob Kotkin and a daughter named Audrey Anna Kotkin.

More Concerning David Copperfield

His extraordinary achievements include making a Learjet vanish in 1981, the Statue of Liberty vanish and reappear in 1983, hovering above the Grand Canyon in 1984, traversing the Great Wall of China in 1986, evading capture at Alcatraz prison in 1987, making an Orient Express dining car vanish in 1991, and flying on stage for several minutes in 1992.

Copperfield is by a wide margin the highest-grossing solo artist in history, with a remarkable track record of selling 33 million tickets and generating over $4 billion. In 2015, he was ranked as the twenty-first highest-earning celebrity worldwide, and he estimated his earnings for the previous year to be $63 million.

In addition to his magic-related activities, David Copperfield also manages Musha Cay and the eleven islands of Copperfield Bay in The Bahamas. In an effort to prevent the publication of Becker’s book, which disclosed the techniques used by magicians to create illusions, David Copperfield filed a lawsuit against Becker in July 1994.

Despite Becker’s ultimate victory in the lawsuit, the chapter on Copperfield was removed from the book prior to publication due to a confidentiality agreement he had with Copperfield and an external review of his inaccurate descriptions.

David Copperfield and Claudia Schiffer, who were engaged at the time, filed a $30 million lawsuit against Paris Match in 1997 after the publication implied that their marriage was a sham. They claimed that Schiffer didn’t even like Copperfield and pretended to be his fiancée for financial gain.

In 1999, Copperfield and Schiffer won an undisclosed amount, forcing Paris Match to delete its statement. Copperfield enlisted Becker as a witness to attest to their relationship, and Becker consented. In addition, Schiffer’s publicist stated that while she was contractually obligated to attend Copperfield’s Berlin performance, she was not required to function as his “consort.”

Copperfield sued Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company on August 25, 2000, in a futile effort to recover the $506,343 ransom he had paid to Russians who had seized possession of his equipment.

John Melk, co-founder of Blockbuster Inc. and previous proprietor of Musha Cay, filed a fraud lawsuit against Copperfield after he purchased the island chain. Melk claimed that Copperfield had lied about his identity during the transaction, and he would not have consented to sell the islands to Copperfield had he known the truth.

According to his argument, Melk had agreed to sell the land to Copperfield’s Imagine Nation Company, and Copperfield employed a third party to conduct the negotiations out of concern that Melk was abusing his celebrity status. The dispute was resolved in 2006, but the terms of the settlement remain confidential.

Viva Art International Ltd and Maz Concerts Inc. filed a lawsuit against Copperfield on 6 November 2007 for approximately $2.2 million. In addition, the Indonesian promoter of Copperfield’s postponed Jakarta performances confiscated $550,000 worth of equipment as compensation for the unreimbursed funds. Copperfield filed a countersuit in July 2009, and the matter was eventually resolved.

Gavin Cox, an audience member from the United Kingdom, filed a lawsuit against Copperfield in 2018, alleging he was injured during a performance in November 2013. Copperfield prevailed in the claim, and he was deemed “not liable.”

In 2007, Lacey L. Carroll filed allegations of s*xual assault against Copperfield. In January 2010, however, a federal grand jury in Seattle concluded its investigation without bringing any charges.
