DeVonta Smith’s Health Update: When Will He Make His Comeback?

DeVonta Smith’s Health Update: DeVonta Smith, a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, has been one of the team’s most crucial players this year. After a successful sophomore campaign, Smith has progressed during his third year with Philadelphia. As a freshman, Smith had 64 receptions for 916 yards and five touchdowns. He improved his statistics in 2022, catching 95 passes for 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns.

Smith has 15 receptions on 20 targets for 206 yards and two touchdowns through Philadelphia’s first three games of the 2023 season. His current average per reception distance is 13.7 yards. The Eagles will play the Washington Commanders in Week 4 and are now 3-0.

DeVonta Smith has been intermittently listed as injured despite playing in each of the Eagles’ first three games this season. Smith only participated in a few Eagles practices last week.

Smith avoided yesterday’s practice, but the reason for his absence is unknown. He was ill and missed practice, but he returned the following day. Either Smith was ill, or the Eagles decided to give him an extra day of recuperation before Sunday’s game.

After working out on Friday, all signs point to Smith playing on Sunday against the Washington Commanders. If and when Smith appears on Sunday, he will have participated in every game played to date during his career.


Smith has had multiple formations on the injury report throughout his career, but he has always been able to perform. Smith had only four receptions for 28 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.

The Eagles will attempt to enhance their record to 4-0 by defeating their NFC East opponent. On Sunday, the Commanders hope to repeat their success from last season by dealing the Eagles their first loss of the season.
