Zeke enters Michaela’s life shortly after she and Jared begin an affair. Zeke mysteriously returned a year later, too. Zeke’s introduction shows that his death-defying story will change Michaela’s life. Michaela can never connect with Jared, but Zeke has callings and death dates.

Michaela wants to help Zeke because his death date is closer than hers. After returning, he has a year to beat death. Michaela and Zeke begin dating before Zeke’s death, ending her romance with Jared.

Michaela marries Zeke the day before his death. Because Zeke’s frostbite is killing him, it seems like an impetuous decision, but it’s love. Zeke saves Cal Stone from drowning on his death date. Ice-cold water increases Zeke’s frostbite, killing him. Zeke’s revived minutes later after following the callings. Michaela and Zeke have more time together, but her unresolved feelings for Jared damage their marriage.

How Does the Michaela-Zeke-Jared Love Triangle End?

In the first part of the fourth and final season, Michaela and Zeke’s married life is shown to be wonderful. Michaela told Zeke in the third season that she still had feelings for Jared, but flashbacks show that she picked Zeke and cut Jared out of her life for two years after he told her Zeke wasn’t good enough.

This is why the end of the love triangle hits you in the gut: Michaela and Zeke should have been the endgame for Manifest. The biggest surprise in the last season is that the death date is for everyone because it is the date of the end of the world. Now, the people on Flight 828 have to figure out how to save everyone on Earth, which is an impossible job.

This is where Zeke saves the day once again. Zeke has empathy skills now that he has lived past his death date. He can feel and take on other people’s pain. In the midseason episode, Zeke overhears Cal’s sister Olive and her boyfriend T.J. talking about how Cal’s new title as “The Dragon” could be the key to saving humanity.

But in a sad turn of events, Zeke gives up his own life again exactly three years after he beat his death date. He does this by using his empathic skills to transfer Cal’s cancer to himself. He gives a heartfelt goodbye phone call to a devastated Michaela, and she runs to be by his side before he dies, ending the love triangle in tragedy.
