This year, there have been five GOP primaries, and former president Donald Trump has won each one.
Nikki Haley, a former US ambassador to the UN and governor of South Carolina, is the only opponent of Trump in the contest. Many of the candidates who had placed their names in the hat withdrew from the contest after failing to win any primaries or meet the requirements to be eligible for the GOP debates in the autumn. Haley has declared that she will continue competing until Super Tuesday, which is scheduled for March 5.
The GOP primary election season began with the Iowa Caucus. With 51 percent of the vote, Donald Trump triumphed, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis coming in second with 21.3% of the vote, ahead of Nikki Haley’s 19.1%. With a 29.7 percent margin of victory, Governor DeSantis withdrew from the contest following the defeat.
Then came the New Hampshire primary, where Trump received 54.4 percent of the vote against Nikki Haley’s 43.2 percent in a smaller field. Though the difference between Trump and his nearest rival narrowed to 11.2 percent, New Hampshire was seen as a state where Haley might have managed to win by a narrow margin.

This year was a complicated one for Nevada.
The non-binding primary, which was meant to take the place of the state’s customary caucus system, was turned down by the Republican Party of the state in August 2023. Ultimately, the state held two events. First up was the state-run primary, in which 48,763 votes, or 63.2 percent of the total, were cast for “None of these candidates.” With 23,665 votes, Nikki Haley was the contender who garnered the most votes overall.
Nonetheless, Donald Trump, the sole significant contender on the ticket, received 99.1 percent of the vote on February 8th, when the Nevada GOP staged the caucus. It is difficult to determine the margin of victory that Trump won because of the complicated issues involved in holding two separate elections.
There were 265 votes in the US Virgin Islands, and 74.2 percent of them voted for Donald Trump, while 65 percent supported Nikki Haley. This was the largest margin to date, with 48.4 percent more voters choosing Trump than Haley.
The former governor was unable to eke out a victory in her native South Carolina. The gap, which stands at 20.3 percent, is the third greatest of the election season, with 59.8 percent of votes cast going to Trump and just 39.5 percent to Haley.
