According to a video circulating on social media, Drew Barrymore and Reneé Rapp left a stage in New York City on Monday after a man accosted them and shouted, “You know who I am.”
Before rushing off the stage, Barrymore, a talk show host and performer, and Rapp, the protagonist of “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” discussed Rapp’s most recent album.
They were performing at the 92nd Street Y, a cultural centre in Manhattan, when Barrymore was abruptly interrupted by someone exclaiming “Drew Barrymore!” The video has not been corroborated by NBC News.
“Oh, my God!” Barrymore exclaimed into the microphone, appearing surprised. Yes! Hi!” When the man reached the platform, he shouted his name and added, “You know who I am.” The two individuals observed with trepidation as he yelled his name and added, “You recognise me.” He walked to the edge of the platform and said, “I need to see you while you’re in New York, okay?”
As soon as Barrymore showed signs of astonishment, Rapp leapt from her seat, seized her, and hurriedly led her offstage. Two men who appeared to be security officers approached the individual and were ostensibly escorting him away.
Representatives for Barrymore and Rapp did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 92NY did not as well. The New York Police Department has received no reports of incidents.
