Dumka: Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren accuses BJP of ruining state

Soren had otherwise lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his strong will to materialise schemes such as the Sahebganj port during the inaugural event of Deoghar airport recently.

At a time when central agencies including the ED have been tightening the noose around the close aides of chief minister Hemant Soren on corruption charges, he made a counter-attack on BJP and said it has ruined the state in the last twenty years of its governance.

“Had they (BJP) been voted to power any further they would have sold out the state,” Soren said while addressing a gathering in a program organised in Dumka on Thursday to mark the culmination of the universal pension scheme drive.

Soren had otherwise lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his strong will to materialise schemes such as the Sahebganj port during the inaugural event of Deoghar airport recently. However, came down heavily on the BJP while addressing the gathering after two days after the arrest of his close aid and his MLA representative Pankaj Mishra by the enforcement directorate (ED) in connection with money laundering charges.

He arrived on Wednesday to attend the aforesaid function and also inaugurated and led foundation stones for schemes worth over 400 crores. He said BJP made all efforts to retain power in the 2019 assembly elections.

“Money was wasted by them like water to retain the power in the state and engaged helicopters numbering hundred for the campaigning but those were you to have blessed us to form the new government,” Soren stated adding that it was now his turn to pay back by bringing happiness in the lives of the electorates.

Grilling the BJP, Hemant said they were actually snatchers who did not know to give something to the people but to snatch away whatever they had and cited his government’s approach to add salt and other items to be provided to the poor through the public distribution system (PDS).

“Soon pulses will be distributed through the PDS,” he added.

Contrary to the claims of the BJP, Soren said,  the whole country was forced to face miseries in terms of inflation and unemployment and said his government had now focussed to create employment opportunities for the youths.

“For the last twenty years, the subsequent BJP governments did not even formulate proper regulations for appointments in different government departments and introduced the system of contractual appointments in all categories,” Soren remarked and added that all those recruited on a contractual basis were ultimately made to wander here and there.

The chief minister assured that all those appointed on a contractual basis need not worry about their future as his government would come forward with suitable ways to secure their livelihood.

Earlier, Soren met with cadres from ruling parties and listened to the grievances of common people at Rajbhawan on Wednesday.
